Representatives from across USL, USL’s Division III on hand to discuss plans for 2019

TAMPA, Fla. – The 2018 USL Mid-Season Meetings will open on Tuesday morning in downtown Atlanta as team executives and executives from both the USL and USL Division III gather to make key decisions for the 2019 season and beyond.

Held in conjunction with the 2018 MLS All-Star Game in the city, league officials will give presentations on the overall growth of the league – which has surpassed 1.5 million in total attendance this season and seen a continued rise in partnership and sponsorship revenues – while club leadership will aim to finalize certain matters, including competition structure for the USL’s 2019 season, during the Board of Governors meetings.

“We are delighted to welcome representatives from both of our professional leagues to Atlanta, as we continue to map the path toward the 2019 season,” said USL President Jake Edwards. “Thanks to the groundwork that has been laid by the league’s executives in discussions with members of the Board of Governors, we anticipate numerous key decisions will be made over the course of the two days as the USL continues to go from strength to strength, and USL Division III builds toward its highly-anticipated first season.”

The presence of the new USL Division III ownership groups at the meetings will be one of the key elements of this year’s meetings, as the league finalizes its sanctioning presentation that will given to the U.S. Soccer Federation in August. Executives from numerous clubs that have yet to be announced will be on hand alongside representatives from South Georgia Tormenta FC, Greenville Pro Soccer, FC Tucson and Madison Pro Soccer, allowing the opportunity to network and make connections with club executives from both the USL and Major League Soccer that will prove valuable to the league’s long-term success.

“We are extremely excited to have representatives from all of the clubs set to take part in the inaugural 2019 season of our new league at this year’s Mid-Season Meetings,” said USL Division III Senior Vice President Steven Short. “The opportunity for our club executives to congregate over the upcoming week – as well as the chance to collaborate with executives from across the USL and Major League Soccer – will allow us to finalize plans for the successful opening kickoff of our league next spring.”
