OKLAHOMA CITY – OKC Energy FC announced on Thursday it had re-signed goalkeeper Cody Laurendi to a contract for the remainder of the 2018 season.
Laurendi suffered a knee injury at the end of the 2017 season and has been sidelined since then. He has been training with Energy FC during his rehab and was recently cleared to return to full practice with the club.
“Cody is the consummate professional and has shone through during the process of rehabilitation from injury and his continued training program,” said Energy FC Head Coach Steve Cooke. “He is one of the first players at training each day and always gives his very best effort to the team. As he continues toward match fitness, we felt Cody was the perfect goalkeeper to add to our roster.
“Bryan Byars has worked incredibly hard to seize his opportunity and has performed at a very high standard. We are confident that our goalkeepers will continue to give the team a great chance to reach our goals for the season.”
Laurendi is Energy FC’s team leader in every major goalkeeping category including wins (18) and shutouts (20). His two-year mark with the club is 18-18-17.
