Saint Louis aims to build on Open Cup victory against Toronto

FENTON, Mo. – Saint Louis FC hosts Toronto FC II on Friday night at Toyota Stadium – Saint Louis for the club’s first home game since April 22 after historic flooding in early May saw the venue require restoration. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT.

Saint Louis FC news and notes

  • Current record: 3-3-3, 12pts

  • Saint Louis is currently on a five-game winless streak in league action after having victory denied late last Saturday night in a 1-1 draw against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

  • Jose Angulo’s team-leading fourth goal of the season gave STLFC the lead at Al Lang Stadium, but the Rowdies leveled with three minutes to go through Neill Collins to earn a point.

  • Saint Louis is coming off a win on Tuesday night in the Third Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as two goals by Sebastian Dalgaard earned a 2-1 win on the road against defending PDL champion the Michigan Bucks.

  • STLFC will now play host to Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire in the Fourth Round on June 14. It will be the first time in Open Cup play Saint Louis has hosted an MLS club.

Toronto FC II news and notes

  • Current record: 1-6-4, 7pts

  • Toronto’s winless streak reached 10 games on Saturday evening as it fell 1-0 to FC Cincinnati in front of 18,214 fans at Nippert Stadium.

  • TFC II outshot Cincinnati 12-7 in total shots, and finished level 3-3 in shots on goal, but was held scoreless for the second consecutive game, and seventh time in its last eight outings.

  • Former Toronto FC II standout Raheem Edwards was one of 10 players with USL experience named in Canada’s 27-player squad to face Curaçao on June 13 in Montreal.

  • Friday’s game will be a return to Saint Louis for goalkeeper Mark Pais, who spent the past two seasons with STLFC before joining Toronto this offseason.
