Saint Louis FC’s Enrique Herrera’s first goal of 2017 came at just the right moment for his native El Salvador, as it proved the winner in a 1-0 victory against Nicaragua that booked La Selecta’s place in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Needing a win to secure a place at the tournament this summer, Herrera’s give-and-go and low finish – which you can see below – sent El Salvador into a top-four position in the round-robin tournament, and left Nicaragua to face Haiti for the final berth in a two-legged playoff.

Herrera scored 14 goals for Saint Louis FC in his first season with the club, and is set to return to World Wide Technology Soccer Park for the upcoming season.
