VAUGHAN, Ontario - Toronto FC II has announced the club has signed forward Shaan Hundal – a selection to the USL 20 Under 20  this season – to a USL contract. As per club and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Since being called up in April, Shaan has faced every challenge head on displaying qualities that we are looking for in a young professional,” said Toronto FC II Head Coach Jason Bent. “We are pleased to add another graduate from the Kia Toronto FC Academy to our roster and watch him continue his development.”

Hundal was named as the No. 13 player in the USL’s 20 Under 20 series in July, as the 17-year-old has had an impressive first season in the USL. Hundal has appeared in 24 matches and sits second on the team with five goals. He has also recorded one assist while logging 1,534 minutes – good for sixth on the team – this season.

Hundal was originally added to the TFC II player pool from the Kia Toronto FC Academy Senior team on April 7, 2016. He made his professional debut for Toronto FC II on April 9, 2016 against FC Montreal.

Hundal becomes the 11th player from the Academy to sign a professional contract with Toronto FC II since the team’s inception in 2015. He originally joined the Kia Toronto FC Academy in May 2014 after previously playing with Brampton Youth Soccer Club. Hundal was also a member of the U-14 and U-15 Ontario Soccer Association Provincial Program.
