Swope Park looks to bounce back against undefeated WFC2

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Swope Park Rangers will try to bounce back from their first defeat of the season when they host the undefeated Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 at Children’s Mercy Victory Field at Swope Soccer Village on Wednesday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.


Swope Park Rangers news and notes

  • Current record: 2-1-1, 7 points
  • The Rangers were edged out 1-0 on Saturday night by OKC Energy FC as the club suffered its first defeat of the season.
  • Jon Kempin put in a strong performance in goal with five saves, but was unable to prevent Kalen Ryden’s 79th-minute goal for the hosts at Taft Stadium.
  • Wednesday’s game is the Rangers second home game of the season, and the first at Children’s Mercy Victory Field.
  • The Rangers took a 2-1 win against the Portland Timbers 2 in their inaugural home opener as Kevin Oliveira and Daniel Salloi found the back of the net.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 2-0-2, 8 points
  • Vancouver remained undefeated this season last Friday night as it rallied from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw with the LA Galaxy II at StubHub Center.
  • Fatawu Safiu led the comeback, as he scored WFC2’s opening goal, and then provided the assist on Kyle Greig’s equalizer.
  • The game against the Galaxy II marked the first time this season Vancouver had conceded more than one goal in a game.
  • WFC2 will complete its three-game road trip on Saturday as it visits Saint Louis FC at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
