WILMINGTON, N.C. – Wilmington Hammerheads FC completed its road trip on Tuesday night as it faces its second road match in four days against Louisville City FC at 7:30 p.m. ET at Louisville Slugger Field.
Wilmington suffered a 1-0 defeat against Saint Louis FC on Saturday after Sam Fink scored his first goal of the season off a corner kick with eight minutes remaining in the match.
Louisville is also looking to bounce back in Tuesday’s match after falling 1-0 on the road to the Charlotte Independence in its last outing this month. Louisville hosts the Hammerheads following a bye week in their schedule, much like Wilmington’s previous opponent, Saint Louis.
Tuesday’s match will see the addition of goalkeeper Eirik Johansen on loan from New York City FC. “Eirik is a talented goalkeeper,” said Wilmington Hammerheads FC Technical Director and Head Coach Carson Porter. “We believe injecting him into our lineup will help our team to push for three points tomorrow. He stands six feet, seven inches tall and that will help us deal with set pieces.”
A victory for Wilmington will result in a four-way tie in the league standings alongside the Charlotte Independence, Pittsburgh Riverhounds and New York Red Bulls II. Three points at home for Louisville will move the club to the fourth position in the table.
Saturday’s match at Louisville Slugger Field will be broadcasted live on Louisville City FC’s YouTube channel. Fans in Wilmington can join Hammerheads staff and supporters at Carolina Ale House on Tuesday to watch the team live on the road.
Wilmington is set to return home and host their next match on Saturday night against the Rochester Rhinos at 7 p.m. ET at Legion Stadium. Flex packages and single tickets are available for purchase online. For more information regarding Wilmington Hammerheads FC, please contact (910) 777-2111 or visitwww.wilmingtonhammerheads.com.
