LOUISVILLE, Ky. - In a matchup of two of the USL's winningest clubs, USL Championship side Louisville City FC advanced to the Round of 32 with a 3-1 victory over Greenville Triumph SC. LouCity dominated from the start, as Sean Totsch scored 98 seconds into the contest. The USL Championship powerhouse led Greenville in a number of statistical categories and doubled its advantage through the USL Championship's leading scorer, Wilson Harris, four minutes into the second half. A stoppage-time goal from Greenville native and first-year professional Hayden Anderson pulled Triumph SC within one, but a late goal from Jorge González sealed victory for Louisville. Greenville's progression to the Third Round of the U.S. Open Cup matched the club's best finish in the tournament since 2022.
Sean Totsch (LOU) – The longtime LouCity defender became the club's all-time scoring leader in U.S. Open Cup play with his fifth goal in the competition. Totsch's goal two minutes into the match coupled with his nine recoveries, five duels won and four interceptions proved enough to move past Greenville.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Independence advanced to the Round of 32 of the U.S. Open Cup for the first time since their inaugural 2015 season in a thrilling contest against USL Championship expansion side Rhode Island FC which ended with the Jacks advancing on penalties. The back-and-forth affair featured four lead changes and saw the match progress to a penalty shootout - the fourth shootout for the Jacks since the 2023 USL League One Playoffs. In the highest-scoring 2024 U.S. Open Cup match, a pair of goal contributions apiece from Juan Carlos Obregón, Jr. and Luis Álvarez led the Independence to their 84th victory against USL Championship opposition and third against a higher-division opponent.
Juan Carlos Obregón, Jr. (CLT) – The Honduran forward notched the second brace of his professional career and has totaled three goals through his last two matches. The recent addition to Charlotte's roster completed 93% of his passes, won seven duels, earned five fouls and drew one penalty.
