COLORADO SPRINGS, Col. – The United Soccer League (USL) announced today an exciting slate of community and fan events as part of next month’s second annual USL Summer Showcase, presented by Hisense, in Colorado Springs. The USL Summer Showcase includes the League’s annual mid-year meetings, community events and partner activations. It will celebrate the Colorado Springs community and the Switchbacks’ marquee home stadium, Weidner Field. The week culminates in a nationally televised match between Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and FC Tulsa on Wednesday, August 9 at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

USL SUMMER SHOWCASE, PRESENTED BY HISENSE, EVENTS AND ACTIVATIONS:

Soccer Film Night @ USL Summer Showcase – The USL, in partnership with the Independent Film Society of Colorado and Kicking + Screening Soccer Film Festival, will host a special Soccer Film Night on Monday, August 7 at 7 p.m. MT. Fans are invited to the Ivywild School for a showing of Big-Time Soccer, The Remarkable Rise & Fall of the NASL, directed by Rachel Viollet. Doors open at 6 p.m. MT, and tickets can be purchased here.

“The Warmup” Party, presented by Tequila Corralejo – Fans are invited to join the USL for a night of soccer fun and friends on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. MT at Trainwreck bar and restaurant. The main event is a live broadcast of the weekly SiriusXM FC show “USL All Access,” hosted by Mike Watts and Devon Kerr. The live show begins at 6 p.m. MT. Special guests from Colorado Springs Switchbacks and FC Tulsa, giveaways, and Summer Showcase merchandise are also on tap. Fans can pre-register to attend here.

Fan Fest –The Summer Showcase Fan Fest will entertain fans of all ages with fun, family-friendly games, giveaways and prizes, food and beverage, live music and other local attractions outside of Gate A at Weidner Field. Fans can expect fan engagement booths and giveaways from Colorado Springs Switchbacks local partners and USL national partners. Fan Fest begins at 5 p.m. MT. Partners include:

Unified Soccer Series – The first of its kind within the USL, the third annual Unified Soccer Series features Special Olympic Unified teams from Colorado Spring and Omaha to promote social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences and joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. Following the USL Championship match against FC Tulsa, the Colorado Switchbacks Unified Team will host the Union Omaha Unified Team in a continuation of the Series that kicked off on July 8 in Omaha. The match will be played in front of more than 200 executives from the USL’s professional and pre-professional clubs as they visit Colorado Springs for the annual USL Mid-Season Meetings.
