BRADENTON, Fla. – FC Cincinnati got a first-half goal by Corben Bone and earned a 1-1 draw with Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution on Tuesday evening in the club’s opening game of the preseason at IMG Academy.

Bone scored five minutes before the halftime break as newcomer Emmanuel Ledesma beat his defender and laid a pass back for the veteran midfielder, who slotted his finish home from the right side of the penalty area. The Revolution hit back four minutes into the second half on a goal by rookie Brandon Bye, but from there neither side could take advantage of its opportunities to break the tie as honors ended even.

Cincinnati used two separate lineups in each half, with goalkeeper Evan Newton, defender Forrest Lasso, and midfielders Lance Laing and Blake Smith joining Ledesma among the newcomers in the starting lineup. Newton had to come up big to keep the game scoreless early on as he made a sprawling save to deny New England’s Cristian Penilla, and he also saved well from Teal Bunbury in the 23rd minute.

Laing and Ledesma both went close for FCC in the first half before Bone’s initial breakthrough, while Nazmi Albadawi, Russell Cicerone, Emery Welshman and Dekel Keinan also saw action in the second half. New England’s Zach Herivaux was sent off with 17 minutes to go, but the teams remained at 11v11 as U.S. Men’s National Team member Kelyn Rowe came on to keep the numbers even.

FCC will next square off with fellow USL club the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday at IMG Academy, with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m. ET.
