The 2009 USL Soccerfest featuring the United Soccer Leagues’ Annual General Meeting and Super Y-League North American Finals kicks off today. The gathering of the organization’s professional and amateur league executives and coaches for league meetings will conclude November 22 while the competition for 10 youth championships continues through Tuesday, November 24.

The 2009 USL Soccerfest featuring the United Soccer Leagues’ Annual General Meeting and Super Y-League North American Finals kicks off today. The gathering of the organization’s professional and amateur league executives and coaches for league meetings will conclude November 22 while the competition for 10 youth championships continues through Tuesday, November 24.

U17 Girls North American Finals

RSL finished a successful Super Y-League campaign with an unbeaten record of 10-0-2. Competing in the Southeast Region against some strong competition, they finished first in their division and will be competing in the USL Super Y-League North American Finals in good form. The ‘91 girls finished the season with an unbelievable goal difference of plus-31, scoring 37 goals and only conceding six over the course of 12 games. This will be RSL FL's third year in a row in the finals.

SYL Most Anticipated Girls Matches

U14 Girls - GROUP A: two top defenses square off on opening day in a battle of big-name clubs. The Washington Freedom allowed just 0.45 goals per game this season. The Freedom’s day-one adversaries, the Chicago Magic allowed just 0.85 per match. The exact opposite, two offensive-minded teams meet two hours prior in GROUP B. Seacoast United is averaging 5.6 goals per game to Northern Virginia’s 4.5.

FC Twente backs new Dayton club

United Soccer Leagues announced that Dayton, Ohio will be home to the newest expansion club in the Premier Development League, the Dayton Dutch Lions. The new club is supported, in part, by Dutch Eredivisie leaders and UEFA Europa League entrant FC Twente, and will begin play in 2010.

Calloway returns to Des Moines

In a press conference this afternoon at Krause Gentle corporate headquarters, the Des Moines Menace officially announced that Laurie Calloway is the team’s new head coach and the Menace Academy’s Director of Coaching. The Birmingham, England native returns to Des Moines seven years after he led the 2002 Menace to an undefeated regular season.

Kickers announce new ownership

The Richmond Kickers are pleased to introduce a new ownership group, Richmond Kickers Youth Soccer Club (RKYSC). With more than 6,000 players under its umbrella and programs for youth ages 3-19, RKYSC recently acquired the assets of the professional team after claiming their fourth national Championship. Adding the pro program fulfills the club’s mission to grow the beautiful game of soccer and serve the community through a successful soccer club that entertains, invites community participation, and inspires all.
