Molino powers Lions to 7-0 win

Orlando City SC (18-4-4) celebrated its 100th USL PRO match with a convincing 7-0 victory against the Dayton Dutch Lions (6-17-4) at ESPN Wide World of Sports on Saturday night.  The victory moved the Lions a step closer in their pursuit of the USL PRO regular season championship. Midfielder Kevin Molino continued his excellent attacking form during the win, scoring his second hat trick of the season while providing two assists. The midfielder’s 2014 goal tally now stands at 19.

Battery Book Place In Playoffs

The Charleston Battery powered their way into the USL PRO Playoffs behind a hat trick from forward Dane Kelly and superb performances from goalkeeper Odisnel Cooper and midfielder Zach Prince as they defeated the Pittsburgh Riverhounds 4-0 on Saturday night in front of a crowd 4,181 at Blackbaud Stadium.

Rhinos Surge Past City Islanders

The Rochester Rhinos snapped a four-game winless streak as they took a 4-1 victory against the Harrisburg City Islanders on Saturday night in the regular season finale at Skyline Sports Complex in front of 2,257 fans. Three second-half goals allowed the Rhinos to take their first regular-season victory in Harrisburg in the USL PRO era, and solidified their position in the playoff positions in the league standings.

Blues, Kickers Finish Level

Orange County Blues FC held the Richmond Kickers to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night at Anteater Stadium as it played one of its best games of the season. While results earlier in the evening had eliminated the Blues from playoff contention, a good finish by Andrew Hoxie earned Orange County a point against the third-placed Kickers.

Brody Lifts Cardinals Past Terrapins

Orlando City U23’s Andrew Brody scored the only goal as No. 9 Louisville took victory against No. 2 Maryland in the Cardinals’ opening game at Lynn Soccer Stadium in front of a school record crowd of 7,047 fans.

Bruins, Tar Heels Finish Scoreless

No. 1 UCLA and No. 9 North Carolina finished scoreless in the marquee matchup in Women’s NCAA Division I Soccer on Friday night as a Bruins defense led by the LA Blues’ Abby Dahlkemper and Caprice Dydasco held the Tar Heels without a shot on goal for only the second time in program history.
