TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Roughnecks FC announced on Wednesday the return of Joaquin Rivas after the club and the midfielder agreed to terms on a contract for the 2018 USL season, pending league and federation approval. Rivas will return for his second year with the Roughnecks.

Rivas was the only Roughnecks player to appear in all 33 league games in the 2017 USL season, including the club’s first contest in the USL Cup Playoffs. The 25-year-old scored five goals and also notched two assists, while also recording 27 key passes as the Roughnecks finished in seventh place in the Western Conference to earn their first postseason berth.

“Joaquin was one of the key contributors to our team's success last season, and we are excited to have him back,” said Roughnecks Head Coach David Vaudreuil. “He is a talented and dependable player that we think can push forward and score even more goals this year.”

A former member of Sacramento Republic FC, Rivas has made 52 appearances in his USL career. A former standout for the Kitsap Pumas in the Premier Development League, Rivas competed collegiately for the University of Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV).
