PHOENIX – Phoenix Rising FC announced on Monday it had re-signed two familiar faces for the 2018 season in midfielder Alessandro Riggi and goalkeeper Carl Woszczynski. The signings are pending league and federation approval.

Riggi had a strong first season in Phoenix, recording four goals and four assists in 21 appearances despite an early-season knee injury. Riggi’s four assists were tied for second on the team, and in addition to recording 24 key passes the Canadian 24-year-old also produced one of the best goals of Rising FC’s season against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 late in the year.

“I’m blessed and thankful to be back where I feel appreciated,” Riggi said. “I can’t wait to give the organization and fans even more in 2018! Go Rising!”

Woszczynski returns for his fourth season in Phoenix after serving primarily as a back-up to Josh Cohen for much of the 2017 season. The experienced veteran made five appearances in the 2017 regular season, and has made 76 appearances all-time in the league after previous stints with Orange County SC and Orlando City SC.

“I am ecstatic to be rejoining Phoenix Rising FC for the 2018 season,” Woszczynski said. “Being here through the club's transitions and stadium changes in past years, to becoming Phoenix Rising and having our own beautiful stadium, makes it that much sweeter. I believe the city, ownership group, staff, and fans are some of the best in the USL, and I can't wait to do all I can to help bring a championship to the Valley.”
