Seattle Sounders FC 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 9-13-2, 29pts

  • Seattle earned its second consecutive victory with a 2-1 win against the Portland Timbers 2 on Aug. 17 at Providence Park.

  • The victory kept S2 in contention for the postseason, as the side sits in 10th place in the Western Conference, four points behind eighth-place OKC Energy FC.

  • Midfielder Zach Mathers leads S2 with nine goals this season, which places him tied for ninth in the USL. Mathers has tripled his scoring output for S2 this season, after scoring three goals as a rookie in 2016.

  • Seattle is tied for third in the USL with a 19 percent chance conversion rate this season, but is only 24th in the league with 256 total shots, an average of 10.7 per game.

Tulsa Roughnecks FC news and notes

  • Current record: 10-10-3, 33pts

  • Tulsa fell 2-1 to Saint Louis FC last Wednesday night to end a three-game undefeated streak, but the side remains in sixth place in the Western Conference standings.

  • The Roughnecks took the lead against Saint Louis through Joey Calistri’s seventh goal of the season, but a red card to Modou Jadama played a role in the side conceding a late goal that lifted Saint Louis to victory.

  • Tulsa is level on points with seventh-place Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and eighth-place OKC Energy FC, but would move into fifth place with a win on Wednesday night.

  • Wednesday’s game is the first in a three-game trip for the Roughnecks through the Pacific Northwest, with the side set to visit the Portland Timbers 2 on Sunday in its next outing.
