Big Western Conference clash set for Friday night

IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County SC and OKC Energy FC square off in a game with massive playoff implications for both clubs on Friday night, with Energy FC holding a one-point edge going into the game at Champions Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.

Orange County SC news and notes

  • Current record: 7-6-8, 29pts

  • Orange County grabbed a late 1-1 draw with Phoenix Rising FC last Friday night in front of a sellout crowd at Champions Soccer Stadium’s official opening.

  • Sola Abolaji scored in the 89th minute to mark his debut for the club with a goal, having come on as a substitute with 10 minutes to go.

  • Orange County has drawn three consecutive outings, and is looking for its first victory since a 1-0 win on July 29 against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2.

  • OCSC has not scored multiple goals in a game since July 22, when it took a 4-0 victory against Rio Grande Valley FC.

OKC Energy FC news and notes

  • Current record: 8-9-6, 30pts

  • Energy FC played to a 0-0 draw last Saturday night at home against San Antonio FC to remain in the eighth and final playoff position in the Western Conference.

  • OKC has only won once on the road this season, against the last-place Portland Timbers 2, and has a road record of 1-7-4 this season.
