OTTAWA – Ottawa Fury FC announced on Tuesday Paul Dalglish has resigned his position as GM and Head Coach. Julian de Guzman has been named interim Head Coach and GM for the club.

"Paul informed the club that he intended to leave at the end of the season for personal reasons, however we jointly decided it would be better for the team to make that change now," said Fury FC President John Pugh. "This decision will give Julian the opportunity to get the rest of the season under his belt, starting with a lengthy three-game road trip that will give the team a solid week together amidst this midseason change."

"In addition to his exceptional knowledge of and experience with the game, Paul brought enthusiasm, commitment and a great sense of humor to work each day.  He was instrumental with our program to move to the USL at the start of this season and has done everything that we have asked of him in terms of growing professional soccer in Ottawa.  We are very appreciative of the time that Paul has spent with us."

"I will always be grateful to OSEG, the Fury, my staff and players for the experience my family and I have enjoyed here in Ottawa," said Dalglish. "I also want to thank the fans for their continued support of this great club. I wish nothing but the best for Fury FC and hope fans get to enjoy playoff soccer in Ottawa this fall."

De Guzman, a former Fury and CanMNT captain, is the most capped player in Canadian Men's National Team history who announced his retirement this past January and immediately began his coaching career remaining with Fury FC as the club's Assistant GM and Assistant Coach.

"Julian has proven that he will be a strong coach in this game," said Pugh. "He has the attention and respect of the players and he has our full support."

De Guzman will make his head coaching debut Wednesday night in Orlando when Fury FC visits Orlando City B with both sides contesting for a spot in the playoffs.

"First and foremost I want to thank Paul. I knew that coaching would be the next step in my career and Paul was a good mentor," said de Guzman. "I also want to thank Ottawa Fury FC for having the faith in me to lead this club going forward – I am looking forward to the opportunity and take great pride in what I have been entrusted with."
