Key playoff race contest set for ONEOK Field

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Roughnecks FC and Phoenix Rising FC square off on Saturday night at ONEOK Field level on points in the Western Conference standings, but with the Roughnecks sitting one place above Rising FC in the eighth and final playoff position. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT.

Tulsa Roughnecks FC news and notes

  • Current record: 7-8-1, 22pts

  • The Roughnecks stretched their undefeated streak to three games as they rallied for a 2-2 draw with the LA Galaxy II in their last outing on July 13.

  • Los Dos took a two-goal halftime lead, but tallies by Modou Jadama and Ian Svantesson earned the visitors at point at the StubHub Center Track & Field Stadium.

  • The Roughnecks earned a point without Argentinian playmaker Juan Pablo Caffa, who was serving a one-game suspension for accumulation. Caffa will be available again on Saturday.

  • Roughnecks midfielder Collin Fernandez was named as the No. 18 player in the USL 20 Under 20 on Wednesday, highlighting a strong season for the Chicago Fire loanee.

Phoenix Rising FC news and notes

  • Phoenix rallied to earn a 2-1 victory against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC last Saturday night at the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex in its last outing.

  • Rising FC trailed at halftime to the Switchbacks, but halftime substitute Jason Johnson scored twice in the second half, including a late winner, to earn the side a valuable victory.

  • Johnson was named the USL Player of the Week for his performance, which moved Phoenix into ninth place in the USL Western Conference.

  • Rising FC is undefeated under Head Coach Patrice Carteron, as last Saturday’s victory was the first win since the start of the six-game run.
