Rising FC looks to get back in win column, hosts Switchbacks

PHOENIX – Phoenix Rising FC will look to end a streak of four consecutive draws when it plays host to a Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC side that sits five points ahead of it in the Western Conference standings. Kickoff at the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex is set for 8 p.m. PT.

Phoenix Rising FC news and notes

  • Current record: 5-5-4, 19pts

  • Rising FC grabbed a late 1-1 draw with Orange County SC last Saturday evening as Didier Drogba scored late in stoppage time on a free kick.

  • Phoenix has gone 1-0-4 since the start of new Head Coach Patrice Carteron’s tenure, which has left the team sitting three points out of the top eight in the Western Conference.

  • Drogba’s goal was his fourth of the season, which moved him into the team-lead after five appearances for Rising FC.

  • The club’s current five-game undefeated streak is the longest in its history.

Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC news and notes

  • The rallied to earn a 2-2 draw with Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 last Saturday night at Weidner Field after trailing by two goals at the halftime break.

  • Masta Kacher and Kevaughn Frater scored for the Switchbacks, who enter the weekend in sixth place in the Western Conference standings.

  • Frater sits 10th in the USL with 34 shots this season, and sits second to Kacher on the team with four goals to the Canadian’s five tallies.
