Rangers look to continue winning streak in Vancouver matinee

VANCOUVER, B.C. – The Swope Park Rangers will try to continue their four-game winning streak when they visit Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 on Wednesday for a special matinee kickoff at Thunderbird Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. PT.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 4-8-4, 16pts

  • WFC2 played to a 2-2 draw against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Saturday night that saw the side let slip a two-goal halftime lead.

  • Goals by Marco Bustos and Thomas Sanner had put the visitors ahead at Weidner Field, but they were unable to hold their advantage as the team’s winless streak reached five games.

  • Vancouver announced on Tuesday it had transferred Sem De Wit to FC Cincinnati, marking the end of the Dutch defender’s time with WFC2.

  • Bustos has recorded five goals this season for WFC2, putting him two short of the seven goals he has notched each of the past two USL seasons.

  • The Rangers recorded a 4-0 victory on Saturday night against Rio Grande Valley FC to tie a club record with their fourth consecutive victory.

  • Lebo Moloto had a goal and two assists, while Kevin Oliveira added two other helpers, to send the side into third place in the Western Conference.

  • Swope Park announced on Tuesday it had signed 18-year-old midfielder Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal to a USL contract. Kuzain had made two appearances for SPR as an Academy signing earlier this season.

  • Oliveira has now matched his total of four assists from 2016, when injury cut short his season, in two fewer games and more than 200 fewer minutes.
