Orange County, Phoenix square off for first time this season

IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County SC and Phoenix Rising FC meet for the first time this season with both teams aiming to gain ground on the playoff positions in the Western Conference when the take to Orange County Great Park on Saturday night. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. PT.

Orange County SC news and notes

  • Current record: 4-4-2, 14pts

  • Orange County played to a 3-3 draw last Saturday against the Portland Timbers 2 in its most recent outing at Orange County Great Park.

  • A stoppage-time goal by Gustavo Villalobos earned the hosts a point as they had squandered a second-half lead against T2, for whom Villyan Bijev scored twice.

  • Orange County finished the game with nine men after Amirgy Pineda and Jerry van Ewijk were both sent off late in the game.

  • Both players will be unavailable for Saturday’s game, but Van Ewijk’s suspension was reduced on appeal to three games. The appeal of Pineda’s six-game suspension was denied.
