Monarchs aim to get back on winning path against OKC

SANDY, Utah – Real Monarchs SLC will try to get back on a winning track as they welcome OKC Energy FC on Wednesday night at Rio Tinto Stadium, with the visitors looking for a win to boost their playoff prospects in the Western Conference. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. MT.

Real Monarchs SLC news and notes

  • Current record: 12-2-1, 37pts

  • The Monarchs fell for the second time this season on Saturday night as Tulsa Roughnecks FC took a 2-0 victory at ONEOK Field.

  • Real was thwarted by a strong goalkeeping display by Fabian Cerda for the Roughnecks, who recorded a six-save shutout to lead to hosts to victory.

  • Saturday’s game marked the first time this season the Monarchs had been held scoreless, with the side currently sitting third in the USL with 33 goals.

  • Monarchs leading scorer Chandler Hoffman is one goal away from his 40th in the USL regular season, with eight goals so far in 2017.

OKC Energy FC news and notes

  • Current record: 5-6-3, 18pts

  • Energy FC played to a 2-2 draw in its last outing on June 24 against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2, which capped a three-game trip to the Pacific Northwest.

  • OKC twice took the lead against WFC2, but the hosts found an equalizer on both occasions at Thunderbird Stadium.

  • Forward Andy Craven has scored four goals in his past three games, his first for the club since being re-acquired from FC Cincinnati in early May.

  • Energy FC announced Danish midfielder Philip Rasmussen was expected to miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL last week. Rasmussen had appeared in 12 games for OKC this season.
