NASHVILLE (July 1, 2017) – After beginning the season 6-0, the last thing Nashville SC U23 fans imagined was to be clinging to playoff hopes by a thread.  But in what has been an up and down year for NSC U23, they find themselves in that exact position, scrambling against 3 other teams for 2 playoff spots in the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

Saturday's nights draw against SC United FC from Columbia, SC gave NSC U23 another point and kept them in 2nd place and holding the 2nd playoff spot just in front of Charlotte Eagles.  However, the Eagles hold a game in hand and are followed closely by North Carolina FC U23 who hold 2 games in hand on NSC U23. NSC U23 needs 6 points out of its final 2 games in addition to a little help from teams in the division to make sure Charlotte and North Carolina don't pass them in the points standings.

In a contest that saw the visitors catch the home side sleeping on a goal just 3 minutes into the match by Jose Cubillan, the home team simply couldn’t finish a multitude of opportunities.  “We had plenty of chances and just couldn’t find the net” commented Coach Roelke following Saturday’s draw.

Fortunately for NSC U23, Damilola Omitaomu was an exception to the rule on the night as he headed in a high, looping cross from Logan Paynter in the 20th minute.  Despite the numerous opportunities presented the hosts throughout the rest of the match, that would wrap up the scoring on the night as the score remained 1-1 at the final whistle.
