Forward Trevin Caesar Named USL Player of the Week for Week 14

Caesar is joined on the Team of the Week by forward Wilson Kneeshaw.

Sacramento Republic FC forward Trevin Caesar has been named the USL Player of the Week for his stellar performance in Week 14. Caesar netted four goals over two matches, both wins for Republic FC. Caesar earned 71 percent of the poll conducted by a national panel of independent media representing every USL market.

The Trinidad and Tobago international is joined on the USL Team of the Week by fellow forward Wilson Kneeshaw. The two forwards clicked seamlessly in the last two USL matches, netting a combined six goals and recording four assists.

Caesar recorded only the second hat trick in club history in USL regular season play on Saturday, Jun. 21 in Republic FC’s 6-2 rout over Rio Grande Valley FC. Caesar combined with Kneeshaw twice to to the score the second and third goals of the match, first in the 42nd minute and again in the 57th minute, before completing his hat trick in the 72nd minute off an assist from midfielder Jeremy Hall. Caesar also provided a fantastic rabona pass for forward Tyler Blackwood’s goal earlier in the match.

In Republic FC’s 3-2 win against LA Galaxy II, Caesar again combined with Kneeshaw, who placed a perfect backheel pass for Caesar to smash the ball past Los Dos keeper Eric Lopez in the 14th minute of the match.

Aside from his three assists for Caesar through Week 14, Kneeshaw also recorded the opening goal against Rio Grande Valley, chipping RGV keeper Borja Angoitia off a well-placed through ball from midfielder Agustin Cazarez.

Forward Tyler Blackwood earned Bench of the Week honors, having scored a goal in both of Republic FC's Week 14 matches.

Caesar now holds five goals and two assists on the season, while Kneeshaw has three goals and four assists in 2017 USL play. Blackwood has four goals to his name this USL season.

Republic FC is back in action on Wednesday, Jun. 28 when they face MLS side LA Galaxy in the Round of 16 of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in Carson, Calif.
