TAMPA, Fla. – Nine teams from the USL will square off with Major League Soccer opposition in the Fourth Round of the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on June 13 and 14, including a trio of sides that will host contests that night. The USL was left with the largest remaining contingent of teams in the tournament outside of Major League Soccer after an enthralling night of action in the tournament’s Third Round on Wednesday that saw FC Cincinnati and Tulsa Roughnecks FC advance to face MLS opponents for the first time in their histories.

Cincinnati, Saint Louis FC and Sacramento Republic FC will all play host to teams from MLS for the first time in their Open Cup histories on June 14, with Cincinnati setting up an Ohio Derby against Columbus Crew SC at Nippert Stadium after a 1-0 victory against River Cities rival Louisville City FC on Wednesday night. Djiby Fall scored his second game-winning goal of the tournament to earn FCC the chance to face Crew SC for the first time.

Sacramento advanced to the Fourth Round for the third time in club history, but for the first time will play host at Papa Murphy’s Park at this stage after defeating fellow USL club Reno 1868 FC 2-0. Real Salt Lake will be the visitors to Sacramento after goals by Harry Williams and Trevin Caesar either side of halftime brought 1868 FC’s first foray in the tournament to an end.

Saint Louis FC had advanced to the Fourth Round on Tuesday night with a 2-1 victory against defending Premier Development League champion the Michigan Bucks at Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac, Mich. STLFC’s reward is a meeting with four-time Open Cup champions the Chicago Fire at Toyota Stadium – Saint Louis.

The Roughnecks will face defending Open Cup champion FC Dallas after they advanced to the Fourth Round for the first time by defeating current USL Western Conference leader San Antonio FC 7-6 in a penalty shootout after the teams had played to a 0-0 draw through regulation and overtime. Goalkeeper Fabian Cerda was the hero for Tulsa, first making a penalty in the fourth round, and then saving twice – including from SAFC counterpart Diego Restrepo to seal the victory – to earn a trip to Texas.

Among the other intriguing ties in the next round are a meeting between the Charleston Battery and their MLS partner Atlanta United FC, with the Battery earning a 1-0 win on the road against Jacksonville Armada FC in the Third Round. The Rochester Rhinos will visit their former MLS partner the New England Revolution at Providence College’s Anderson Field after a stoppage-time goal in overtime sent the 1999 champions through against GPS Omens.

The Fourth Round will also see a pair of rematches, with the Harrisburg City Islanders set to face the Philadelphia Union at Talen Energy Stadium in the fifth meeting between the clubs since 2011, and Orange County SC squaring off with the LA Galaxy for the first time since the 2011 tournament.

OKC Energy FC, meanwhile, will face a first-time matchup against the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park after Energy FC earned a 2-1 win against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC through goals by Jose Barril and Wojciech Wojcik on Wednesday night.
