San Antonio returns home to host Sacramento at Toyota Field

SAN ANTONIO – USL Western Conference leader San Antonio FC returns home to Toyota Field on Saturday to play host to Sacramento Republic FC, with SAFC aiming to continue its undefeated start to the season against the side that finished top of the Western Conference a season ago. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT.

San Antonio FC news and notes

  • Current record: 6-0-1, 19pts

  • San Antonio FC completed a three-game sweep through Cascadia over the past week, taking victories against Seattle Sounders FC 2 and the Portland Timbers 2.

  • Forward Cesar Elizondo had two goals and an assist in the two games, and was named the USL Player of the Week on Tuesday for his performances.

  • San Antonio used 20 different players in its starting lineups during the three-game trip to the Pacific Northwest. Only Sebastian Ibeagha and Greg Cochrane played every minute of the three games.

  • SAFC leads the USL with 18 goals this season, with both Billy Forbes (6 goals) and Elizondo (4 goals) in the USL’s top five goal-scorers.

  • Sacramento played to a 0-0 draw against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 last Saturday, extending the club’s scoreless drought to four consecutive games.

  • The last time Republic FC was held without a goal in four consecutive games, it then ended its next opponents’ undefeated start to the season; Republic FC beat the LA Galaxy II 2-0 early last year at StubHub Center.
