Real Monarchs SLC news and notes
Current record: 4-1-0, 12pts
The Monarchs rebounded from their first loss of the season with a 3-1 victory against Seattle Sounders FC 2 last Saturday night at Starfire Stadium.
Jose Hernandez and Nick Besler both found the net for the Monarchs in the second half after S2 had equalized shortly after the halftime break.
Saturday’s game marks the Monarchs’ first home game since a 5-3 victory against Reno 1868 FC on April 6, with the side having visited Colorado Springs and Seattle since then.
Midfielder Charlie Adams will be available for selection after serving a suspension for his red card against Colorado Springs. Adams sits third in the USL with 16 chances created this season.
Swope Park Rangers news and notes
Current record: 3-1-0, 9pts
The Rangers fell 4-3 to Phoenix Rising FC last Sunday night despite a furious comeback that saw the side score three times in the final 15 minutes.
Kevin Oliveira scored his first two goals of the season in the comeback effort in his first start for the side since a torn ACL brought his 2016 season to a premature end.
Swope Park saw its seven-game regular-season winning streak come to an end in Phoenix, falling one win short of tying the USL record set by Orlando City SC in the 2014 season.
The Rangers’ Jaylin Lindsey has started both of the U.S. U17 National Team’s victories at the CONCACAF U17 Championship, including Wednesday night’s 4-3 win against Mexico that sent the U.S. into the second stage of the tournament.
