San Antonio aims to remain undefeated in second leg of Cascadia trip

TUKWILA, Wash. – Seattle Sounders FC 2 welcomes San Antonio FC to Starfire Stadium on Tuesday night with Western Conference leader SAFC aiming to continue its undefeated start to the new season in the second leg of its trip to Cascadia. Tuesday night’s contest will feature use of a Video Assistant Referee, and kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.

Seattle Sounders FC 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 2-3-0, 6pts

  • Seattle’s up and down start to the new season continued on Saturday night when it fell 3-1 to Real Monarchs SLC at Starfire Stadium.

  • S2 has now alternated losses and victories in its first five games of the season. The club’s last two-game winning streak came in back-to-back victories against Portland and Vancouver on Aug. 29 and Sept.3 2016.

  • David Olsen scored his first professional goal in the defeat against the Monarchs, with his volleyed finish three minutes into the second half leveling the score before Real pulled away for victory.

  • All six of Seattle’s goals this season have come from inside the penalty area, but the side is yet to record a headed goal in 2017.

San Antonio FC news and notes

  • Current record: 4-0-1, 13pts

  • San Antonio opened its trip to the Pacific Northwest on Saturday with a 2-1 victory against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 as Billy Forbes recorded a goal and assist.

  • Forbes is now tied for third in the USL in both goals and assists. The attacking midfielder has recorded four goals and three assists in five contests this season.

  • With Swope Park’s loss on Sunday night, San Antonio FC is now the lone Western Conference side with an undefeated record.

  • San Antonio’s goal-conversion rate of 32 percent on the team’s shots on goal so far this season is first in the league, as SAFC sits tied for third in the USL with 11 goals scored.
