FENTON, Mo. – Saint Louis FC announced on Saturday the signing of midfielder Tony Walls for the 2017 season, who joins the club ahead of its clash with the Charlotte Independence at Toyota Stadium – Saint Louis on Saturday night.

Walls is a former USL Cup champion, having won the title in 2015 as the captain of the Rochester Rhinos. Walls was named to the USL All-League First Team that season as he recorded four goals and two assists for the Rhinos as the club claimed its fourth championship.

The 27-year-old had joined the Rhinos in 2014, and helped the side reach the USL Cup Playoffs in his first full professional season. A former selection by the Chicago Fire in the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft, Walls didn’t make an appearance for the Fire prior to signing with the Rhinos. While in Rochester, Walls made 61 appearances, and also claimed the Rhinos’ Defensive Player of the Year award in 2014 and Club MVP award in 2015.

Walls played collegiately at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay from 2008-2011. He also played for the Premier Development League’s Michigan Bucks during the 2011 season where he made 11 appearances and scored one goal.
