Cascadia rivals look for first points of the season at Starfire

TUKWILA, Wash. – Seattle Sounders FC 2 and the Portland Timbers 2 will both look for their first points of the season on Sunday afternoon when the Cascadia rivals meet at Starfire Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. PT.

Seattle Sounders FC 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 0-1-0, 0pts

  • Seattle fell 2-1 to Sacramento Republic FC in its first outing the season despite going ahead early through a goal by new signing Brian Nana-Sinkam.

  • The former PDL Top Prospect scored inside the opening 10 minutes from a free kick to give S2 the lead, but goals by former Sounder Sammy Ochoa and Emrah Klimenta gave the visitors victory.

  • The game marked the professional debut of former Academy forward Shandon Hopeau, a native of Hawaii who was inspired to chase his future with the Sounders by former SSFC standout Zach Scott, himself a Hawaiian.

  • Former S2 player Jordy Delem made his MLS debut on Friday night against Atlanta United FC, helping the side earn a 0-0 draw.

Portland Timbers 2 news and notes

  • Portland has suffered back-to-back losses to start the season after falling 1-0 to the Swope Park Rangers on Wednesday night at Children’s Mercy Victory Field.

  • T2 outshot their hosts on Wednesday night 15-14, but put only three of their shots on target, only one of which came from inside the penalty area.

  • Goalkeeper Kendall McIntosh has made a strong start to the season despite the defeats, recording a league-leading 12 saves through his first two contests.
