Colombian brings versatility from New York to Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY – OKC Energy FC announced on Thursday it had signed defender David Diosa ahead of the new USL season. The contract is pending league and federation approval.

Diosa has played the last four seasons with the New York Cosmos. During those four seasons the native of Medellin, Colombia appeared in 39 games, scored four goals and five assists and logged 1,934 minutes. His most productive season was the 2016 campaign when he played in 23 matches, logged 1,034 minutes and scored three goals and added three assists.

“He will want to come in and prove himself,” said Nielsen. “He is versatile…can play left back, left wing or right wing, which gives us multiple options for our attack and defense. His primary position is left back, but he is attacking-minded in that position. His timing going forward is amazing and that contributed to his high offensive output last season.”

Diosa said he was eager to show Energy FC fans what he could do as he joins the club.

"I choose to sign with Energy FC because I've heard nothing but good things about the organization and team," said Diosa. "I know the team is competitive and its aiming high. Really excited to be here and reach the goals set for the team this year."
