Switchbacks aim to hold onto first as Blues look to claim final playoff berth

IRVINE, Calif. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC will visit Orange County Blues FC on Saturday night at Anteater Stadium looking to hold onto first place in the Western Conference, but will face a big test as the Blues look to take victory to claim the final place in the West’s playoff field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT.

Orange County Blues FC news and notes

  • Current record: 11-14-4, 37pts
  • Orange County fell 1-0 to Rio Grande Valley FC last Saturday night to drop to 10th in the Western Conference standings.
  • The Blues sit a point behind San Antonio FC for eighth, and also trail the Portland Timbers 2 on goal differential going into the final weekend of action.
  • With a win, the Blues would need a draw or a loss by both San Antonio, and to win by a wider margin than Portland to have a chance to claim eighth place on either goal differential or goals scored.

  • The Switchbacks took a 2-1 victory against Seattle Sounders FC 2 last Saturday night to move into first in the Western Conference.
  • Mike Seth scored in stoppage time to give Colorado Springs victory, with the goal his team-leading eighth of the season.
  • Colorado Springs is on a three-game winning streak, and holds the tiebreaker over second-place Sacramento with 14 wins to Republic FC’s 13 entering Saturday’s game.
  • Should the Switchbacks fail to take victory, the side could drop to third in the standings depending on the results by Sacramento and Rio Grande Valley FC.
