HARRISON, N.J. – The New York Red Bulls II are unbeaten in 10 consecutive matches after defeating FC Montreal 3-0 at Red Bull Arena on Saturday. Brandon Allen found the breakthrough in the 20th minute, firing a shot in for his 14th goal of the 2016 USL regular season. Florian Valot, who beat a man and sent a dangerous cross into the box before Allen scored the opener, headed in the second goal of the match in the 54th minute. Derrick Etienne and Stefano Bonomo each scored eye-opening goals to secure the win at home. The Red Bulls II improve to 20-3-6, while Montreal falls to 7-20-2.

Scoring:
20’ – NY – Brandon Allen
54’ – NY – Florian Valot (Derrick Etienne)
74’ – NY – Derrick Etienne (Brandon Allen)
90’+ – NY – Stefano Bonomo (Brandon Allen)

Three Things That Mattered:

  • 1. The race for the 2016 USL Golden Boot will come down to the wire, as Allen scored his 14th goal of the season for the Red Bulls II with one match remaining. Allen, who has scored a goal in five of NYRBII’s past seven games, currently trails FC Cincinnati’s Sean Okoli and LA Galaxy II’s Jack McBean for the honors.

  • 2. The Red Bulls II made history on Saturday, setting the USL record for most goals in a single season. Orlando City scored 56 goals in 2014, while NYRBII now has 60 goals in 2016. With Saturday’s result, the Red Bulls II have scored at least four goals in a game six times this campaign. There have been 17 different players who have scored to help Red Bulls II set the goal-scoring record.

  • 3. While he was unable to stop all of the Red Bulls II’s chances, Maxime Crepeau put on a show. The Red Bulls II beat Crepeau on four occasions, but the 22-year-old Canadian international made many big saves against the 2016 USL regular-season champions at Red Bull Arena, including an eye-opening, diving stop in the 52nd minute. Crepeau made important stops against the Red Bulls II from the opening whistle, making strong saves in the fourth minute and 18th minute.
