TULSA, Okla. – OKC Energy FC snapped its four-game goalless run in convincing fashion, defeating Tulsa Roughnecks FC 2-0 at ONEOK Field on Saturday. Timo Pitter fired in the game-winner, hitting the ball first-time from a Kaylen Ryden layoff pass in the seventh minute of action. In the 64th minute, the FC Dallas loanee then served in a beautiful ball to the back post, where Danni Konig rose high to head in the second goal of the game. With Saturday evening’s result, Energy FC has won all three Black Gold Derby matchups this regular season by a combined score of 7-0. Energy FC improves its overall record to 9-3-10 and now has 37 points in 2016. The Roughnecks remain last in the Western Conference and have lost four consecutive games. Tulsa falls to 5-16-3 (18 points) and 3-9-1 at home.

Scoring:
7’ – OKC – Timo Pitter (Kaylen Ryden)
62’ – OKC – Danni Konig (Timo Pitter)

Three Things That Mattered:

  • 1. Pitter was active and creating chances from the opening whistle, and his first-time blast from distance proved to be the difference in Saturday’s match. After creating goal-scoring opportunities working down the right wing in the opening five minutes of action, the 23-year-old FC Dallas loanee drilled a shot past Roughnecks goalkeeper Alex Mangels in the seventh minute of play. Pitter was not done there, though, as he continued to combine well with his teammates in the middle of the park before providing an assist in the second half.

  • 2. Hours before Energy FC was set to kick off, the club received a boost in the signing of former Seattle Sounders FC forward Andy Craven. The 24-year-old was originally signed by Seattle Sounders FC 2 ahead of the 2015 USL season, and he went on to score five goals and provide five assists in his first professional season. Craven has featured in 16 games for S2 in 2016, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Craven made his debut in the 81st minute, replacing Pitter. While he didn’t have much time to make an impact, Craven is expected to add much-needed energy up front for a club that has only scored 25 goals – the third fewest in the Western Conference – this campaign.

  • 3. The Roughnecks are running out of time to push for a USL Playoffs spot. The club sits in last place in the Western Conference with only six games remaining. The club has lost all three Black Gold Derby matchups this year, and the fourth and final rivalry match will be played on the road at Taft Stadium. If the Roughnecks are to climb back up the standings, the club must turn in better better offensive performances. The Roughnecks struggled to truly test Energy FC goalkeeper Cody Laurendi. One of the club’s best chances came in the 25th minute, when Henri tested the netminder with a strike on frame. However, the ball sailed right at Laurendi, who simply punched the shot away and out of danger.

USLSoccer.com Man of the Match:
Timo Pitter, OKC Energy FC:
The midfielder provided exactly what Energy FC has been missing for four weeks: goals. After scoring in the first half, he assisted the team's second goal in the second. The former Creighton University talent has played in four straight matches for Energy FC, and he now has two goals and two assists in six games played this regular season.
