Second edition of Black Gold Derby this season set for Taft Stadium

OKLAHOMA CITY – OKC Energy FC will aim to continue its move up the Western Conference standings when it hosts its in-state rival Tulsa Roughnecks FC for the second edition of the Black Gold Derby this Saturday night at Taft Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT.

OKC Energy FC news and notes

  • Current record: 7-2-7, 28pts
  • Energy FC took its second consecutive victory with a 2-1 win against Orange County Blues FC last Saturday night at Taft Stadium.
  • Goals by Michael Thomas and Wojciech Wojcik gave OKC the victory, which also extended the side’s undefeated streak to six games.
  • Wojciech has scored three goals in 10 appearances since joining Energy FC on loan, and is tied for the team-high in goals.
  • Energy FC goalkeeper Cody Laurendi is fourth in the USL in both goals-against average (0.79) and save percentage (.784).

Tulsa Roughnecks FC news and notes

  • Current record: 4-11-3, 15 points
  • The Roughnecks took a 2-0 victory last Friday night against Saint Louis FC for their second win in the past four games.
  • Gustavo Villalobos and Sammy Ochoa both scored for the Roughnecks, with Ochoa’s goal his ninth of the season.
  • Roughnecks defender Isaiah Shafer was named to the USL Team of the Week on Tuesday for his performance as Tulsa recorded its fourth shutout this season.
  • Tulsa goalkeeper Alex Mangels leads the USL with a .833 save percentage, and 70 saves.
