MELBOURNE, Fla. – Eastern Conference-leading Louisville City FC scored three consecutive goals despite a man disadvantage and defeated Orlando City B 4-3 on Sunday at the Titan Soccer Complex. Second-half sub Andy Lubahn scored a second-half, go-ahead goal and assisted Ben Newnam’s equalizer, and Aodhan Quinn tallied an impressive free kick score that proved to be the winner. Chandler Hoffman opened the scoring for the visiting side. Louisville played with 10 men for more than 50 minutes as George Davis IV picked up a second yellow card and was sent off in the 39th minute. It appeared that Orlando could seize the opportunity as Harrison Heath and Hadji Barry scored back-to-back – Barry's score coming with a man advantage. Louisville stayed aggressive and scored three in a row. Orlando’s Michael Cox scored in second-half stoppage time, but it was not quite enough. With the win, Louisville extends its unbeaten streak to 10 games (7-0-3) and improves to 8-1-3 overall (27 points). Orlando falls to 4-6-2 (14 points) and 3-4-1 at home.

Scoring:
12’ – LOU – Chandler Hoffman (Kyle Smith)
28’ – ORL – Harrison Heath (Hadji Barry)
50’ – ORL – Hadji Barry (Pierre Da Silva)
62’ – LOU – Ben Newnam (Andy Lubahn)
64’ – LOU – Andy Lubahn (Paolo DelPiccolo)
68’ – LOU – Aodhan Quinn
90’+ – ORL – Michael Cox (Mark Ridgers)

Three Things That Mattered:

  • 1. Louisville’s situation was not ideal, but even following George Davis IV’s sending off, the road side continued to be the aggressor. Leading the way was Andy Lubahn, who set up Ben Newnam’s equalizer and then headed home the go-ahead goal at the near right post off of a nice setup by Paolo DelPiccolo. Aodhan Quinn finished things off with a perfectly placed free kick toward the upper right corner of the frame, driving his 25-yard shot into the back of the net.

  • 2. City improves to 2-0-0 this season against Orlando, following up on its 4-1 home victory on April 9 at Louisville Slugger Field. Louisville’s two four-goal performances against Orlando represent the club’s top offensive output this year. That first meeting also marked the start of Louisville’s current 10-game unbeaten streak.

  • 3. Louisville goalkeeper Greg Ranjitsingh and the City defense saw an incredible shutout streak come to a close. City had posted five consecutive clean sheets heading into Sunday’s match, all with Ranjitsingh in the net. In fact, before this weekend, the only previous tally that Ranjitsingh conceded was an unavoidable circumstance when he was brought in for Scott Goodwin who was sent off against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on April 27. Ranjitsingh was unable to turn away Corey Hertzog’s subsequent penalty kick conversion during the 2-2 draw.
