MELBOURNE, Fla. – Former U.S. U17 international Pierre Da Silva score his first professional goal and also notched an assist as Orlando City B took a 2-1 comeback victory against the Charlotte Independence at the Titan Soccer Complex on Saturday night. The Independence took the lead 12 minutes before the halftime break as Brian Brown began and finished a counter attack with help from Patrick Slogic to finish low from close range, but Orlando hit back eight minutes into the second half when Da Silva played a good give-and-go with Richie Laryea and slotted home his first professional goal. Da Silva then played provider as his free kick from the right found Craig Nitti in the center of the penalty area for a flicked header as OCB grabbed another big three points.

Scoring:
33’ – CLT – Brian Brown (Patrick Slogic)
53’ – ORL – Pierre Da Silva (Richie Laryea)
71’ – ORL – Craig Nitti (Pierre Da Silva)

Three Things That Matter:

  • 1. Saturday night’s game proved a coming-out party for former U.S. U17 international Pierre Da Silva, who had his first professional goal and an assist to lead Orlando back from a halftime deficit against a strong Charlotte side. Part of the U.S. side that competed at the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup, the 17-year-old’s clever touches and movement highlighted why Orlando believes he has a very bright future.

  • 2. Charlotte had a good first half, and might have even added to Brian Brown’s goal that gave them the lead just past the half-hour mark, but appeared to run out of steam a little bit in the second half as it saw its six-game undefeated streak come to an end. The Independence will definitely be wanting better in midweek in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, and next weekend as it returns home to face Toronto.

  • 3. Orlando is starting to make a move toward the playoff positions, as the Lions earned their fourth win of the season on Saturday night. With seven points from its last three games, including last week’s statement win against defending USL champions the Rochester Rhinos, OCB could make its biggest statement yet next Sunday night as it hosts Eastern Conference leader Louisville City FC.
