MELBOURNE, Fla. – Hadji Barry scored a pair of goals as Orlando City B defeated the defending USL champion Rochester Rhinos 2-1 on Sunday at the Titan Soccer Complex. It was the first meeting between the defending USL champion Rhinos and expansion OCB. Orlando improved to 3-5-2 (11 points) and Rochester fell to 4-2-2 (14 points). Steevan Dos Santos scored his first of the season on a late penalty kick to tighten the match, but ultimately the Rhinos saw their five-game unbeaten streak (3-0-2) come to a close.

Scoring:
41’ – ORL – Hadji Barry (Tony Rocha)
57’ – ORL – Hadji Barry
86’ – ROC – Steevan Dos Santos (penalty)

Three Things That Mattered:

  • 1. While it doesn’t show up in a score sheet, Pierre Da Silva was the key in fending off Rochester for the game’s opening goal in the 41st minute. Da Silva won the ball in the midfield, sustained some heavy contact and advantage was played as Orlando continued its attack. Tony Rocha then played a through ball to Hadji Barry and he finished for a 1-0 lead.

  • 2. Barry’s individual creativity led to the second tally as he cut to his right foot and then from a little more than 20 yards out shot to the lower right corner for a two-goal cushion. That would prove to be the game-winner as Rochester’s Steevan Dos Santos pulled one back on a PK that stemmed from a foul against OCB goalkeeper Mark Ridgers who was going for the ball against Kenardo Forbes.

  • 3. Orlando’s play on the flanks provided some consistent buildup against Rochester’s defense. Some key breakups by the Rhinos’ back line or stops by goalkeeper Adam Grinwis kept OCB off the score sheet in the early stages. Grinwis made an impressive diving save in the 21st minute as Conor Donovan’s header appeared destined for the upper left corner. Grinwis had a full stretch on that attempt to keep the match scoreless.
