SAN ANTONIO – FC Dallas loanee Colin Bonner headed home a second-half goal as OKC Energy FC defeated San Antonio FC 1-0 on Saturday in front of a crowd of 6,165 at Toyota Field. It marked OKC’s first road win of the season and second overall, improving to 2-1-4 (10 points). The club’s unbeaten streak is now at six games (2-0-4). San Antonio fell to 2-4-3 (9 points).

Scoring:
58’ – OKC – Colin Bonner (Sebastian Dalgaard)

Three Things That Mattered:

  • 1. Energy FC midfielder Sebastian Dalgaard created the game’s first goal with a perfect cross from the end line, spotting Colin Bonner – and his heavily-bandaged head – at the edge of the six. Bonner headed the shot into the net for his first goal of the season and a 1-0 lead in the 58th minute.

  • 2. The woodwork was the featured element of the first half. In the fourth minute, OKC had a close chance when Coy Craft struck the crossbar. Energy FC nearly capitalized off of a deep throw-in sequence, working the ball into the area while San Antonio unsuccessfully cleared. Then from 11 yards out, Craft took aim at the goal and was unfortunate to not find the netting for the visiting side.

  • 3. In the 31st minute, it was San Antonio’s turn to hit the woodwork. Shawn Chin created a nice setup from the left of the box, and Rafa Castillo’s left-footed touch hit the top of the crossbar as the upper right corner was there for the taking.
