FC Cincinnati goalkeeper Mitch Hildebrandt played a vital role in his side’s 2-1 victory against Toronto FC II on Sunday afternoon, and on Sunday night his late double-save that paved the way to the club’s third win of the season landed at No. 3 on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10.
With the game tied 1-1 in the final 10 minutes, Toronto threatened to regain the lead as Salvador Bernal ripped a strong finish from the left side of the penalty area toward the right corner of the net. Hildebrandt’s made a diving stop to parry the effort, and then recovered in time to deny Bubacarr Jobe’s diving header on the rebound to keep the score level.
A minute later, Cincinnati took the lead through Omar Cummings – his first goal for the club – but after the game it was Hildebrandt who drew the plaudits, earning Man of the Match honors. Hildebrandt then became the second FC Cincinnati player to earn #SCTop10 recognition this season, following Sean Okoli two weeks ago, as fans got the attention of the Worldwide Leader in Sports through social media.
