Orlando brass sees bright future for USL PRO as club joins MLS

It’s been almost four years to the day since Philip Rawlins announced the establishment of Orlando City SC, and the club’s intention to become part of Major League Soccer. A year ago, that goal was achieved, with the Lions set to join New York City FC in MLS for the 2015 season. In the four seasons between, the Lions have left their mark on USL PRO.

United States Sweeps Past Haiti

Behind a pair of goals by former W-League standout Abby Wambach, the United States Women’s National Team closed group play at the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship with a third consecutive victory as it defeated Haiti 6-0 to finish at the top of Group A at RFK Stadium.

Danladi Leads UCLA Past Oregon State

No. 14 UCLA got a pair of goals by the Ventura County Fusion’s Abu Danladi as it moved top of the Pac-12 standings with a 3-0 win against No. 17 Oregon State on Sunday evening at Drake Stadium. Reading United AC’s Larry Ndjock also scored for the Bruins as they took their third conference win of the season.

Doniak, Reuther Lead Cavaliers To Win

The LA Blues’ Makenzy Doniak scored and Washington Spirit Reserves midfielder Morgan Reuther had a pair of assists as No. 3 Virginia took a 2-1 victory against Louisville on Sunday afternoon at Lynn Stadium.

Vercollone Unveiled By Switchbacks FC

The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC are proud to announce USL PRO veteran Luke Vercollone has signed as the club's first official player. Vercollone will join the club for its inaugural 2015 season, pending USSF approval. “I am excited to have Luke as the first signed player for the Switchbacks FC,” said Switchbacks FC Head Coach Steve Trittschuh.

Portland & Seattle Launch USL PRO Teams

The Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer announced today that they will launch stand-alone USL PRO teams, Portland Timbers 2 and Seattle Sounders 2.  “T2” and “S2”, as they will be known, become the seventh and eighth new franchises announced for the 2015 season. The Cascadia rivals will join the highly successful LA Galaxy II - who reached the 2014 USL PRO semifinals - as MLS-owned clubs in USL PRO, with more official announcements for the 2015 season expected in the coming weeks.
