TAMPA, Fla. – The USL announced on Thursday the five nominees for the USL Player of the Month award for October, with top performers from the past month of the 2018 season selected for the ballot.

Voting in the USL Player of the Month Award will be conducted by the following three voting bodies:

  • A fan vote on USLSoccer.com will comprise 51 percent of the poll. The fan vote will run through Monday, October 22 at 12 p.m. ET.
  • The USL Technical Committee’s ballots comprise 25 percent of the poll.
  • The USL National Media Panel’s ballots comprise 24 percent of the poll.

The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, October 25.

Please note: The USL Player of the Month selections process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as USL MVP or position players of the year.

2018 USL Player of the Month Nominees – October

- Matt Bersano, Reno 1868 FC – Bersano recorded 11 saves on 12 shots faced across three appearances for a save percentage of 91.7 while recording two shutouts as Reno ended the season on a seven-game undefeated streak.

- Ever Guzman, San Antonio FC – Guzman recorded three goals on four shots in two games during San Antonio’s late push for the postseason, while also recording three key passes for the side.

- Cameron Iwasa, Sacramento Republic FC – Iwasa scored a pair of game-winning goals and also registered one assist and three key passes to lead Sacramento to three consecutive wins in October to close out the regular season.

- Cameron Lancaster, Louisville City FC – Lancaster led the league in October with four goals in three appearances to set the USL single-season record for goals as he claimed the USL Golden Boot with 25 tallies in 2018.

- Daniel Rios, North Carolina FC – Rios recorded three goals on five shots in three appearances for NCFC in October to reach 20 goals in the regular season, and helped the side claim the Southern Derby in its final game of the regular season.
