PHOENIX – The Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex will play host to a USL Cup Playoffs contest for the first time on Friday night when No. 3-seed Phoenix Rising FC plays host to the No. 6-seed Portland Timbers 2 to open the Western Conference Quarterfinals and this year’s postseason. #PHXvPOR kicks off at 10:30 p.m. ET and can be watched live on ESPN+ in the United States and YouTube internationally, and followed live via the USL Match Center.

@PHXRisingFC is making its second consecutive trip to the postseason and will look to claim its first playoff win against Portland after being eliminated in a penalty shootout at this stage a season ago by eventual Western Conference champion the Swope Park Rangers. Phoenix will be out for revenge against Portland, which handed it a 1-0 defeat in its final game of the regular season last Saturday night that caused Rising FC to slide out of second place in the Western Conference standings.

@TimbersFC2 makes its USL Cup Playoffs debut this year after completing the most dramatic turnaround in the league’s modern era to finish in sixth place after ending the 2017 season last in the Western Conference. Portland’s 17 victories almost sextupled its total from a season ago and was aided by eight wins away from home that put it in fifth place in the league in that category. T2 will be hoping it can produce more road magic and claim its first postseason win against a formidable Rising FC side.
