Energy FC shot-stopper claims top spot in weekly online poll for diving save against Rangers

TAMPA, Fla. – OKC Energy FC goalkeeper Cody Laurendi has earned the USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 25 of the 2018 season for his low diving save against the Swope Park Rangers at Children’s Mercy Park last Sunday evening, which finished top of the weekly online poll.

Laurendi re-signed with Energy FC in July after training with the club during an extensive rehab following a knee injury suffered late last season that sidelined the Puerto Rico international for the first half of 2018. Against Swope Park the veteran showed he was back to his best with a great diving stop that kept out a low shot by Bryam Rebellon to keep the game scoreless early in the contest.

Laurendi’s save earned 38 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Friday. Louisville City FC’s Greg Ranjitsingh took second on 30 percent for his close-range save that kept out a second-half chance for the Charleston Battery’s Jay Bolt last Friday night at Slugger Field, while Ottawa Fury FC’s Maxime Crepeau finished third on 26 percent for his penalty-kick save on the New York Red Bulls II’s Anatole Abang last Friday night at MSU Soccer Park.
