IRVINE, Calif. – As can be the case with many things, it took some patience and work on the practice field and in live game action, but for Orange County SC the partnership between forward pairing Michael Seaton and Thomas Enevoldsen is now driving the club not just toward a return to the USL Cup Playoffs, but potentially the best regular-season record in the club’s history.

Having combined on five goals over the past two games – including all three tallies in Wednesday night’s 3-1 victory against Las Vegas Lights FC at Champions Soccer Stadium, a win that moved OCSC level on points with Western Conference-leader Real Monarchs SLC – the understanding between the Dane and the Jamaican seems to have reached that of other top attacking partnerships in the league.

For Seaton – who has almost doubled his goal total over the past two games with four of the five tallies taking him to nine goals for the season – the upturn in form is certainly a welcome one. The 21-year-old showed sparks of what he was capable of in previous stops first as a Homegrown signing with D.C. United and then at the Portland Timbers, including recording eight goals in 25 appearances on loan with the Richmond Kickers and one goal in five appearances for the Portland Timbers 2. His resurgence this season is an exciting development not only for Orange County, but potentially down the road for the club’s MLS partner, Los Angeles FC.

Enevoldsen, meanwhile, has found a new lease on life in the USL, following the type of trajectory that was forged by fellow Dane Danni Konig when he arrived in the league in 2015 and scored 21 goals in his first season at OKC Energy FC. The 31-year-old may be at the other end of his career to Seaton, but the move to California has paid off handsomely for the former Eredivisie player.

With nine games to go in the regular season, the pairing has combined for 23 goals, the most of any pair of players so far this season in the USL. Aided in their attacking endeavors by midfield playmaker Aodhan Quinn and his nine assists, they have also helped Orange County tie its club record for wins in a regular season with 14, achieved when the side finished top of the Western Conference in the 2015 season in a 28-game regular season. While that season ended in a Western Conference Semifinal loss to Southern California rival the LA Galaxy II, however, the potential for something bigger is clear this time around.
