OTTAWA – Ottawa Fury FC bolstered its squad on Monday with the signing of versatile Canadian international Jérémy Gagnon-Laparé, pending league and federation approval.

“Jérémy is a young Canadian player we’ve been keeping our eyes on, and are excited to bring to Ottawa,” said Julian de Guzman, General Manager of Ottawa Fury FC. “He is a hard worker that will fit well with our club culture, and the style of player we need to add depth and options to maintain a strong defensive core.”

Gagnon-Laparé will be a familiar face to Fury FC fans having previously spent time on loan with the club from the Montreal Impact during the 2015 season. The 23-year-old has spent the past year in France’s Championnat National 2 with AS Vitré, where he made 37 appearances over the past two seasons, recording a goal in each. Adding to his time with the Impact – where he also featured for FC Montreal in the USL - Gagnon-Laparé has already played more than 75 matches in the professional ranks, including seven appearances in MLS, two in the Concacaf Champions League, and 29 in the USL.

A native of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Gagnon-Laparé made his full international debut on September 8, 2013 in an exhibition against Mauritania and has made five appearances overall for the Canada Men’s National Team. He has also represented Canada at the youth level, his most recent call-up being in May 2016 for a Men’s U-23 Caribbean Tour. He has also represented Canada at the Pan American Games in 2015.

A versatile addition to the formation, Gagnon-Laparé will bring depth and experience to the left wing for Fury FC. A defensive-midfielder by trade, Gagnon-Laparé has also the speed and agility to provide attacking support as a left-back.
