Bethlehem Steel FC announced today that club has signed Faris Pemi Moumbagna (preferred name Faris) to his first professional contract. The 18-year-old forward will occupy an international spot.

“Young player that we’re excited to see what he can do at this level,” Bethlehem Steel FC head coach Brendan Burke said. “He has already accomplished a lot at the youth levels in Cameroon. We think he has all the tools to be highly successful in the USL and hopefully break through to the MLS in the future. His movement is sharp and he is clever in the way that moves because he understands how to play the position instinctively.”

A native of Yaounde, Cameroon, Faris adds yet another young player with promising talent. He has earned call-ups to train with the Cameroonian U-17s and U-20s. Faris earned his first cap with the Indomitable Lions as a second-half substitute against Uganda, where he helped the squad advance to the next phase of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations that will be held in Niger in 2019.

Bethlehem Steel FC is currently in preparation for its fourth match in 13 days which concludes on the road at rival New York Red Bulls II on Wednesday, July 18. Kickoff from the MSU Soccer Park in Montclair, NJ is scheduled for 7 p.m.
