THREE THINGS THAT MATTERED

1. Cameron Iwasa broke the Sacramento Republic FC all-time scoring record with his 21st goal for the club as the second in a brace, passing the old mark of 20 set by Rodrigo Lopez.

2. Coming into the game on a four-game winless run Sacramento Republic FC got a much-needed win, its first against the Swope Park Rangers. The win lifts Sacramento to the crucial fourth place position in the USL Western Conference, pushing it ahead of the Rangers.

3. The Swope Park Rangers suffered their first home loss of the season, now sitting at 5-1-1. It was the team's first loss since July 30th 2017, a 4-1 loss to Reno 1868 FC.

GAME REPORTS

SWOPE PARK RANGERS (1) VS. SACRAMENTO REPUBLIC FC (3)

Sacramento Republic FC ended the Swope Park Rangers' undefeated home run with a Cameron Iwasa brace helping Republic FC to a 3-1 win against the Swope Park Rangers at Children's Mercy Park.

Iwasa scored the opener in first half stoppage time after receiving a squared ball from Jaime Villarreal. That gave Iwasa the space on the edge of the area which allowed him to shoot across the goal with too much power for Rangers goalkeeper Eric Dick to be able to stop the shot despite getting a palm to the ball.

Iwasa sealed his brace and doubled Sacramento's lead in the 54th minute when he was picked out by a perfect cross from Emrah Klimenta on the right. That allowed Iwasa to get to it and hit a diving header while in stride.

In the 70th minute the Rangers set up an interesting finish when Hadji Barry was able to score, putting away a perfect cross from Kharlton Belmar from the left, hitting it home from the far post.

Sacramento sealed the win when a series of slick passes ended when Iwasa played the ball from the right of the box to the far post allowing Christian Eissele to poke it home for the 3-1 win.
