Scissor-kick strike that landed Jamaican on SportsCenter’s Top 10 wins online poll

TAMPA, Fla. – Phoenix Rising FC forward Jason Johnson has claimed the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Month for June as his remarkable scissor-kick finish against Tulsa Roughnecks FC at the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex on June 16 took top spot following the conclusion of the online poll at USLSoccer.com held this past weekend.

Johnson had a solid month of June overall to help Rising FC move into second place in the Western Conference standings, scoring three goals, but his incredible finish against the Roughnecks quickly went viral as he brought the sold-out stadium to its feet with one of the most spectacular strikes of the season so far. The goal ended up with the No. 2 spot on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10 that night, taking Rising FC once again to a national audience.

Johnson’s finish received 51 percent of the online poll conducted at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Monday morning. FC Cincinnati’s Emmanuel Ledesma claimed second place with 26 percent for his outstanding long-range strike from the left touchline against the Richmond Kickers at Nippert Stadium, while his FCC teammate Nazmi Albadawi took third for his low, volleyed finish from the top of the penalty area against Ottawa Fury FC.
