Cerda Nabs Fans' Choice Save of the Week

Roughnecks goalkeeper takes home his first weekly award of the 2018 season

TAMPA, Fla. – Tulsa Roughnecks FC goalkeepepr Fabián Cerda has earned the USL Fans' Choice Save of the Week for Week 14 of the 2018 season as his one-handed save against Phoenix Rising FC last Saturday night at Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex finished atop of the weekly online poll.

This is Cerda's first Save of the Week award this season. The 62nd-minute denial against Rising FC’s Chris Cortez was one of nine saves from the 29-year-old goalkeeper. Despite the gorgeous save from Cerda, Phoenix went on to take out the Roughnecks 3-0.

Cerda's save earned 44 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com which concluded Friday. San Antonio FC goalkeeper Diego Restrepo finished second with 30 percent for an instinctive save against Sacramento Republic FC midfielder Jure Matjasic. Fresno FC's C.J. Cochran finished third thanks to a diving save which kept Republic FC’s Jaime Villarreal from scoring on a long-range shot.
