Rising FC goalkeeper’s double-save against Swope Park takes top spot in online poll

TAMPA, Fla. – Phoenix Rising FC goalkeeper Zac Lubin has earned the USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Month for May as his tremendous double-save against the Swope Park Rangers finished on top in the online poll conducted this weekend.

Lubin helped keep his side in the game against the Rangers with a pair of outstanding stops to keep the hosts from adding to their lead at Children’s Mercy Park on May 26. The veteran goalkeeper first produced a fingertip save that sent Tyler Blackwood’s finish from the left side of the penalty area onto the right post and then recovered in time to keep out Rodrigo Saravia’s effort on the rebound.

Lubin’s save received 41 percent of the online poll conducted at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Monday morning. San Antonio FC’s Diego Restrepo took second place with 31 percent for his outstanding late save against Fresno FC that preserved a 2-1 victory for the hosts at Toyota Field, while Ottawa Fury FC’s Maxime Crepeau finished third on 20 percent for his double-save that kept out the Charleston Battery’s Ataulla Guerra from the penalty spot and then Nico Rittmeyer on the rebound
